Lewis Hamilton was voted the favourite for the victory in Monaco but in the end the British who started third had to settle with a third position. Lewis failed to keep the pace with Webber and Rosberg and he fall behind. After that Fernando Alonso was able to take over him and in the end Sebastian Vettel came out of the pit leaving Hamilton on the fifth position.
Hamilton said:
“This is not the best result but sometimes things like this happen. I really don’t like to finish further back than I started. However we got valuable points and this should not be ignored. I haven’t had such a bad start for a long time. I’m glad that I didn’t become part of the Grojan crash. Also I don’t know how long I was in the box but it wasn’t short. I couldn’t be close to Alonso and in the end Sebastian took over me after he got out of his box. From then on I couldn’t take over.”
