Two Bulgarians on the podium in the final round of the European Championship

The last two races of the European Championship Alpe Adria were accompanied with predominantly Bulgarian participation. Total of six Bulgarians of seventeen players competed on the track in Slovakia, and Martin Choi (BMW) and Kalin Koulev (BMW) fought with heavy competition to wave the national flag from the podium . Martin Choi of Globul Racing, won two second places this weekend , and protect his second place overall finishing with 176 points. The other Bulgarian competitor ahead in the standings , Ivaylo Lekov (BMW), of Ivis Racing Team , gained 15 points in the asset and managed to climb up two position in the final standings . So he finished the season in 8th place with 49 points. In the top 20 of the championship place have earned other two Bulgarians , Kalin Koulev and Angel Traykov (BMW) respectively 15th and 20th .

As Sportal.bg wrote the track weekend began on Thursday when 17 players were able to free ride on the track and get familiar with it. Saturday morning was held for the first qualifying race , Michael Fila (BMW) was flawless and the recording time of 2:06.374 , which was 1 second faster than the second time , Michael Sambera (BMW). Third position starts Martin Choi . In the first ten positions other two Bulgarians found place. As expected, the launch was not without tension. Since this was the last round of the season , the contestants were given the most of themselves at any time of the weekend . Fila was imperative and he left no chance to his rivals crossing the finish line with a lead of seven seconds to Choi , who managed to fight Sembera for the second position. All Bulgarians competed very masculine and every one of them deserved points. Koulev ranked fifth and Dimitrov (BMW), Nikiforov (BMW), Traikov, and Lekov finished in 7th , 8th, 9th and 10th . So contestants Ivis Racing Team and Racing Team Pleven took a step forward in the standings.

The second day of competition began also interesting. During qualifying for the second race Sembera crash , he escaped without injury , but his motor was seriously damaged. The Czech so could not take part in the competition. Fila again won the pole position for the start , and after him came Choi , David (BMW) and Koulev . 11 laps after the start of the race first by the final passed Fila , with a lead of 18 seconds, he showed once again why he is the champion in this class. Right from the first lap put unsustainable pace for the other participants throughout the race and drove uncontested . Choi finished second and third to the delight of all Bulgarians was Koulev who beat David by only 2 hundredths . Lekov of Ivis Racing Team, went through the finish 7th and win nine points for his team.

After finishing the season the big Bulgarian group in Slovakia was obviously pleased with the effort in the season and the results achieved at the end of the championship and Bulgarian flags did not stop waving long after the race.
